The 2011 wedding season is finally here. So many photographers and vendors are booking their weekends. Luckily for use we have booked many weddings this year. Additionally we have been setting up many engagement sessions.
Recently, we just did a Griffith Observatory Engagement Session in Los Angeles. It was a lot of fun. We were able to do some night shots, which was something we wanted to do for a while. We are really looking forward to an engagement session in Las Vegas. It will be a 50’s themed engagement session. One thing that we are encouraging our clients is to do a themed session. So often when taking photos at engagement session it can be another canned session of similar poses. With a themed sessions it will allow us and our clients to make a unique event. Something we can tell a story with. It will be something they can show their friends and giggle about. It will be something that will be unique to them, and no one else.
Also, I have been working with my friend in Riverside, Veronica Llamas. She is planning a Dr. patient themed engagement session. They are in school to become psychologists, so the theme goes hand in hand. We have lots of other ideas that we are running through our heads as well. We will definitely make an effort to post their photos on the blog when we have them.
We are also buying a lot more equipment for this coming year. The more equipment we have, the more we can pull off shots we would have never been able to do in the past.
One of our biggest things we look forward to is the new Pocket Wizards. They are made specifically for Nikon. The new Pocket Wizards will allow us to be able to use the Nikon metering system. This will be a step up from just using the triggers in manual mode. This will help a lot with off camera flash and capturing unique shots.
Our services of videography is also taking off this year. We are buying another expensive video camera by Sony. Last week we just invested in a new wireless microphone system which we just received in the mail. That will help tremendously with sound. So, here is a virtual kudos to the future.
Below is a a few photos from a semi-themed engagement session that I took in the past. Photos are of Megan and Grant.
