This past week was busy for me. I just started back to school, and had two more weddings during the week. Looking back at the photos I am very privileged to have been able to capture the moments of people making the ultimate promise to one another. I always look to improve my photography and the photography of my partners. When I look at the photographs of a wedding and all I can think is what I could have done better. However, what I have to consider is that I can’t control everything. I can’t control how soon the preacher shows up. I can’t control if a wedding starts an hour late. I can’t control if the sun goes down before I can capture every photo I had anticipated. I can’t control my camera if it errors out for no reason. What I can control is the photos I do take and I’ve taken almost all steps I can to do my best.
I got to use my new Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 lens this time for a wedding and not just for fun. This is my favorite lens. I used it almost for an entire wedding. Now I need to get two more for Jolene and Daniel. Hopefully it will improve their quality of images as well. I guess now I am going to save up for a Nikkor AF-S 24-70mm f/2.8, or something 3rd party of the equivalent. Only problem is, it costs the same as the camera. Wishful thinking I guess.
Here is a shot that I love that came from the 50 mm f 1.8:
