It’s been an interesting journey these past few months. Jolene is now 14 weeks and 2 days pregnant. We went and had a nuchal translucency done today. This time we actually got to see the fetus active.
People continuously ask if we know the gender. Generally most people can’t tell for sure until after 19 weeks. We have some time to go. A few people can tell before. With my little medical training, I first thought it was a girl. However, there was signs of something down under, and I don’t think it was the umbilical cord. The jury is still out.
The technician thought that the fetus may be a week older than we thought. Putting the estimate of birth on March 28th. Two days before my grandmother’s birthday. However, when such a big difference came out between our estimated time and hers, she measured probably 10 more times. Each time with a different length. The last and final estimate is only a one day difference than what we put it at. So we are still sticking it’s target date at April 4th.
Here is a video and pictures of the ultrasound. The video is jumpy, but it was an after thought for those who can’t be here. I added two stills from the video to the photos. The two photos look as if it’s sucking on it’s umbilical cord.
